Topped in November by the surging Dodge Charger – sales of which jumped by a third in November and are flat, year-to-date – the segment also enjoyed gains from the Nissan Maxima, the low-volume Hyundai Azera, and the niche market Chevrolet SS.

More affordable midsize cars are exceedingly spacious these days.
And customers that desire premium cars want premium-badged cars. A Ford Taurus SEL is not a Lexus ES.
